The Supreme Court of India today accepted the Special Leave Petition (SLP) of Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job-scam prime accused, Rakesh Paul in a case of alleged corruption.

The SLP move was considered as the last resort for Paul as his bail pleas were rejected by the Gauhati high court twice.

Earlier on April, a special court in Assam, granted bail to the suspended chairman of APSC, in a case registered at Dispur police station as investigating officer of the case, Sujit Kumar Saikia, an assistant commissioner of police, could not file the chargesheet within 90 days as the incident had happened in 2012 and there was no evidence to prove the allegation of the complainant.

Paul was arrested on November 4, 2016 in connection with the multi-crore rupees cash-for-job scam on Assam Public Service commission.
