In a time where the entire state of Assam is excited to celebrate Rongali Bihu which starts from April 14, the weather seems to be taunting the people of the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) brings news of heavy rainfall in the region.

IMD in a statement on Friday said that there is a high possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the next 24 hours.

The statement also warned of thunderstorm, accompanied with squall over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the period.

IMD said, “Squally weather with wind speed occasionally reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to prevail over the Maldives-Lakshadweep area. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.” 

With the monsoon arriving soon hope the state does not lose its Bihu enthusiasm.
