The new Barsapara cricket stadium in Guwahati of Assam Cricket Association (ACA) will make its international debut today with the second Twenty20 International match of Paytm series to be played between India and Australia, which will begin at 7 PM.

“The facilities look fantastic. It is the first match at this cricket stadium. Hopefully, we can make it special for ourselves,” satisfied Australia cricket captain David Warner said about the pitch. This was the venue that witnessed Himachal Pradesh being bowled out for 36 against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy encounter. It was the fourth lowest total in the premier domestic competition since 2000.

Mukut Kalita, chief curator of Barsapara stadium expects a high-scoring game on Tuesday. “We are expecting a good score. This is the first match here and we want to make it memorable. Spinners will also get assistance,” he said.

Assam will be hosting an international cricket match after seven years. The last time it hosted a match was back in 2010, when India beat New Zealand in an ODI, which was played at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati.

Today’s match is a chance for India to wrap up the 3-match series by winning the second consecutive game. India has won the first T20 match at Ranchi.
