A retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Md Abdul Latif has been arrested by the Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) of Manipur Police department for alleged involvement in drug smuggling.

The arrest was made after a suspected drug runner named Manzil Ahmed Laskar was apprehended by the 23 Assam Rifles and subsequently named the DSP as involved in drug smuggling.

It may be mentioned that 34 kg of ‘World is Yours’ tablets were seized from a vehicle bearing Assam’s registration number. The apprehended drug runner informed that the tablets were loaded at the residence of retired DSP Md Abdul Latif.

NAB has started a probe into the matter, DSP T Brinda informed.
