The National Socialist Council of Nagaland- Khaplang on Tuesday claimed that it has attacked the Indian Army camp at Niausa, Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh. NSCN (K) said that the attack was started at around 1 AM and lasted till 9 AM.

NSCN (K) said, its special counter-ambush team of Naga Army laid a counter ambush on the Indian Army when they were returning to their camp after a failed ambush. NSCN also claimed that more than 40 Indian soldiers killed on the spot and many more injured.

Meanwhile, confirming the attack, Colonel Chiranjeet Konwar, PRO, Ministry of Defence said that, “At 1 AM tonight Niausa COB was fired upon by UG cadres. Just 5 to 10 ineffective small arms and a Lathode grenade were fired upon the post.”

Col. Konwar also said that their alert sentries retaliated and forced the UGs to run away. The fire had to be controlled keeping in safety of the villagers in vicinity. There were no casualties and no damage to property of COB.

Moreover, operations are underway against fleeing Naga Army cadres. “All reports being circulated on social media by these UG groups are towards creating sensationalism and are baseless and false,” said Col. Chiranjeet Konwar.
