Amazon Wholesale India, Amazon’s business-to-business (B2B) arm in India, has been injected with fresh investments of INR 341 crore by its parent company Amazon in a bid to expand its wholesale business in the country. According to documents from the Registrar of Companies, the fresh infusion of funds came after the latest resolution passed by the parent board in a recent filing.

"We are relentlessly focused on expanding our selection and raising the standard for customer experience and online shopping in India. With Amazon Wholesale India, the vision is to build a place where businesses can come to find and discover virtually anything they want to buy online, the spokesperson added," an Amazon spokesperson said

The wholesale retail unit, which runs Amazon Business here, was started in 2013 and has so far managed to get about INR 350 crore in multiple installments from its parent company.

In June 2016, Amazon said it will invest an additional USD 3 billion in India as the founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has already highlighted the importance of the Indian market to its operations. The company has also made an additional investment of INR 1,680 crore in its Indian subsidiary as it tries to further strengthen operations in the booming Indian e-commerce market.
