Supreme Court in its verdict today restored criminal conspiracy charge against LK Advani and other BJP leaders in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

The Apex court allowed Central Bureau of Investigation's appeal in the case. The court ordered joint trial of two separate cases against L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti and unknown karsevaks in Lucknow.

The apex court directed Lucknow trial court to commence proceedings in 4 weeks and made it clear that there will be no de novo trial. Supreme Court said its order should be followed in letter and spirit and granted liberty to parties to approach apex court if its directions are not followed.

There were two sets of cases relating to the demolition of the disputed structure on December 6, 1992.

The first involved unnamed 'karsevaks', the trial of which is taking place in a Lucknow court, while the second set of cases relate to important personalities in a Rae Bareli court.
