The Supreme Court of India was informed by the Centre on Tuesday that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started a preliminary probe into the SSC exams paper leak case that has witnessed a number of criticism and protests in the country.

The probe started following a PIL filed by Advocate M.L Sharma seeking investigation into the alleged question leak issue during the Combined Graduate Level (Tier-II) Examination 2018 held from February 17 to 21.

The Supreme Court obliged to the petition and took notice of the Centre’s submission through judges benched by Justices R.K. Agrawal and A.M. Sapre and ordered a investigation.

Lakhs of job aspirants in the country staged massive protest demanding a probe into the alleged leak of question paper following which the SSC had cancelled the exam citing technical issues on February 21.
