The quantum of sentence to RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and 15 other accused in a fodder scam case is likely to be pronounced on Friday. It was originally slated for Wednesday but was postponed till today due to the death of an advocate belonging to the Ranchi Bar Association.

The case was related to illegal withdrawal of over Rs. 89 lakh from the Deoghar treasury from 1991 to 1994, when Lalu Prasad was the Chief Minister. All the 16 accused, including Lalu Prasad Yadav, are presently lodged in the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi. They were held guilty by the court on 23rd December, last year.

The CBI court had also served contempt notices to RJD leaders Raghuwansh Prasad, Tejaswi Yadav, Shivanand Tiwari and Congress leader Manish Tiwari for criticising the conviction of Lalu Prasad in the case on Wednesday .

Meanwhile, the court has taken cognizance of alleged wrong reporting by a leading Hindi daily newspaper in Ranchi today about the court's proceedings on Wednesday. A notice has been issued to the daily.
