The recent floods have destroyed the infrastructures of the State. Communication links have been cut off since the flood. This year several PWD roads, bridges and culverts were destroyed by the devastating floods in the State.

After crisis of stones, Sarbananda Sonowal led BJP government is facing challenges as the recent flood destroyed several roads in Assam. More than 2 lakh people have been affected by the floods in the State.

According to Dispur 1,389 PWD roads in Dima Hasao, Barpeta, Jorhat, Majuli, Karimganj, Sonitpur, Kokrajhar, Hailakandi, Nalbari, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Darang, Bongaingaon, Kamrup, Charaidew, Sivasagar, Udalguri, Biswanath, Karbi Anglong, Cachar, Golaghat, Baksa, Kamrup (M), Dhemaji, Dhubri, South Salmara-Mankachar, Morigaon, Dibrugarh and Goalpara districts have been ruined by the flood this year.

15,258 meter of roads have been broken by the floods in 262 parts. Along with the roads, 56 bridges have been smashed by the flood.

The recent floods have not only damaged the PWD roads, it also cracked 741.11 KM of National Highways.

The State needs several crore of rupees to reconstruct the damaged infrastructures in the State. It is also worth mentioning that, five months ago; it was only Rs. 1100-1200 per cubic meter of stones in the State. But recently the price went up to Rs. 3000 per cubic meter.
