Thousands of protesters rocked Nagaon yesterday against the act of assault on the Assamese people by outsiders. They protested with the slogans like, “Jai Aai Asom”, “Bangali Husiaar” etc.

Several organizations, including pro- talk ULFA, AJYCP, AASU, etc., extended their support to the rally. Pro-talk ULFA leaders Arabinda Rajkhowa, Mrinal Hazarika, Kalpajyoti Neog, Pranjit Saikia, Jiten Dutta, Chitraban Hazarika, Monika Chetia, Prabal Neog, etc. voiced agaist the the non-Assamese forces that are engaging in violence in the State.

ULFA chairman during his address to the rally had indirectly indicated that rivers of blood will again flow in Assam. “We do not want Assam to become Afghanistan or Iraq again,” he said.

On the other hand, Ex-ULFA leader Jiten Dutta demanded immediate arrest of those who were involved in assaulting ULFA member Mun Bora and others. He said, “We have come from Kakopothar. We can get killed and we can kill.”

Other ULFA leaders like Kalpajyoti Neog, District AASU president Abhijit Das, leader of AJYCP Prabin Ch. Das and various other leaders also addressed the gathering.

The protesters also marched through the main roads of Nagaon town and reached Deputy Commissioner’s office. Representatives of different organizations had a discussion with Nagaon DC and demanded unconditional release of Mun Bora and others, besides action against additional SP Sanjib Saikia. They also send a Memorandum to the Prime Minister through the DC.
