At the time when Assam Chief Minister with the collaboration of Assam Police was seen disclosing various scams, simultaneously case of Assam police recruitment scam has come to light. The Assam Police is under the direct supervision of Sonowal and the role of the Head Quarters of the Assam police is under deep suspicion of late. The exam schedule was released on the basis of the notice issued in 2015 under Tarun Gogoi Government has led to the creation of a panic situation among the candidates which has raised many eyebrows. The Congress Government in February 23 of 2015 had published a notice for the recruitment of 37 junior assistants in the Assam Police Head Quarters’ situated in Ulubari and 4 Junior Assistants for Economic Crime Investigation Organisation of Assam police.

As per the notice the last date of the submission of forms was set to March 16 of 2015 and more than 40 thousand unemployed candidates submitted their forms. But it was seen that the Assam Police Head quarters did not take any step in the context of the written exams to fill the junior assistant posts in the past 2 years. It was as if the whole request for the filling up of the posts by the Congress was forgotten. In May 2015 came the BJP Government who also surpassed 1 year and 9 months but did nothing in this regard. In the past two years many students have also acquired the requirements needed for this post. Seeing the announcement in the newspapers with just two days in hand for the written exams, the Head Quarters of Assam Police has created a lot of chaos among the candidates.

The candidates submitted their applications in 2015 and till March 9 have not received their admit cards even after the declaration of the exam dates to be on 11 March. The Inspector General of Police (Admin) Pradip Chandra Saloi through an advertisement has expressed that the admit cards will be distributed by the District Police Superintendents respectively.

Although the dates of the written exams have been set 2 days from the notice issued, many Police stations have still not received the admit cards for distribution.

According to the advertisement published in the newspapers of March 9, the IGP said that those candidates who did not receive the admit cards can contact the police Head Quarters but all in vain as the police personnel were not able to answer any of the queries. At the same time many of the police stations were also not aware of any such issues reportedly.

With the sudden declaration of the written exam schedule, there is no time remaining for the thousands of candidates to prepare themselves. There are also questions being brought up as the candidates who prepared themselves all this time for the upcoming exams , the Assam Police did not take any step in making arrangements of allowing them to appear for the exams.

What led to the decision of holding sudden exams of which the application notice was released 2 years back has become a big question for the people in Assam.
