Teachers across the State have expressed unhappiness over an imprudent decision by the Assam finance department. An order issued by the Finance department to all the treasuries in the State restricted them to pay the salaries to the graduate teachers in the State.

It is worth mentioning that, the Finance Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced that arrears of six months along with the salaries for the month of September will be given to all the employees of State government before Durga Puja.

All the employees in the State have been earning their salaries according to the seventh pay scale since last one and four months. But according to the order FPC 18-2013/72 issued by the Finance department of the State, the graduate teachers were getting additional grade pay. Issued by the joint secretary of finance department the order will be valid till any further order by the disciplinary committee of finance department.

Meanwhile, several treasuries in the State have returned the pay-bills of LP and ME school teachers.
