Flash flood has turned Guwahati into a deathtrap as 7 people have been killed during a span of 9 days in the city.

Though the Sarbananda Sonowal led BJP government has been making one after another promise, Dulal Malakar (27), an employee of a KFC outlet in the city, was electrocuted when he was returning home at Sugam Lane in Zoo road, wading through knee-deep water on Thursday. Dulal got married only six months back.

This happened close on the heels of death of two persons named Anwar Hussain and a Class 7 student Pushan Kalita, due to electrocution in flooded Zoo Road on June 13 last when the city was flooded after heavy downpour. More over Deben Nath, Pintu Das, Raju Thapa and Shiba Thapa was also killed in the flash flood.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Guwahati development minister had carelessly announced after 13 June artificial flood to take suggestions from three international organisations to control the flood.

Though Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) have spent several crore of rupees to control the artificial flood in Guwahati, waterlogged streets in the city after a heavy downpour turn Guwahati to a deathtrap.

It is ruefulness that the Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal or the Guwahati development minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have not yet stepped into any house of the flash flood victims.
