Development in the state during Sarbananda Sonowal led BJP government has come to a standstill in the grass root level on its first year. The Panchayat system has stopped in the state due to negligence of the department.
Schemes of rural development have not been executed properly till date and the 26 thousands representatives of the Panchayats are not getting their salaries regularly. Though the government is spending lakh of rupees for the advertisements of its schemes, it has failed to pay the remunerations to its representatives.
According to rules, the chairman of a Panchayat gets the salary of Rs. 5,000 per month, assistant chairman gets Rs. 3,000 , ward members get Rs. 1,500, the chairman of Anchalik Panchayat gets Rs. 7,500, members of Anchalik Panchayat get Rs. 2,500, chairman of Zila Parishad gets Rs. 10,000 and members of Zila Parishad gets Rs. 2,500.
Sources said that the coordination committee of the Panchayat representatives had earlier met rural development Minister Naba Kumar Doley regarding the matter and he assured to fulfill their demands. 
The Panchayat representatives further threatened to intensify their agitation if their demands were not met.
Meanwhile, other 1,833 accountants and computer operators have not get their salaries for months. Government has also stopped paying old age pension, widow pension and handicapped pension. On the other hand nobody has got any house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
