One of the Prime accused of Rs. 121 crore Assam Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board scam, Chohan Doley has been remanded in Dispur Police Station, following the orders of a court of special judge, Assam, who sent him in Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CMSCV) custody for 10 days.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, Chohan Doley was arrested from the Down Town Hospital in Guwahati, where he was admitted with chest pain on Monday. According to sources, he was declared medically fit by the doctors.

The CMSCV had registered the case (number 09/2017) on November 7 under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using a forged document as genuine), 420 (cheating) of the IPC and Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

In the FIR, the Vigilance Cell also named then chairman of the board Gautam Baruwa, administrative officer of the board N.N. Choudhury and Priyanshu Bairagi, a contractor as accused. The CMSVC had arrested Bairagi on November 8 and was sent to police custody.
