India on Sunday beat New Zealand by six runs in the third and final one-day international in Kanpur to clinch the series 2-1. Rohit Sharma has been named Man of the Match while Indian skipper Virat Kohli won Man of the Series award.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s double-century partnership helped India to set up target of 337 for six. Chasing the target, the Kiwis, who looked like favourites with 35 runs required from the last 24 balls, ended six-run short despite Tom Latham’s 65 of 52 balls. While defending the total, Indian bowlers dished out an ordinary bowling performance throughout the match but bounced back in the final three overs.

Required to defend 15 runs in the final over, Jasprit Bumrah conceded only eight runs in the 50th over. He bagged 3 wickets spending only 47 runs, with 32 dot balls in his 10-over spell. With this thrilling win, New Zealand’s wait for their maiden ODI series win in India continued.

India and New Zealand will be playing three Twenty20 matches, the first of which will be held at Feroz Shah Kotla grounds in Delhi on Wednesday.
