Bharti Enterprises and the Tata Group are believed to have held analytical talks to assess a joint venture involving their telecom, DTH TV businesses and overseas cable and enterprise services.

If sources are to be believed, talks between both the companies have revolved around a possible merger between Tata Teleservices,Tata Sky and Tata Communications with Bharti Airtel, which includes its wholly owned DTH arm

The discussions comes at a time when the countries telecom and DTH service providers are finding it difficult to tackle the new entrant, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio, which has taken the market by storm since its inception. The exploratory talks are still at a preliminary stage with no certainty of deal being finalized as the merger may invite a number of challenges and obstacles.

Both Bharti Airtel and Tata Geoup have discussed possible merger deals for their respective telecom and DTH businesses in the past but these did not yield any fruitful conclusion.
