In a surprising move, Pakistan faced sudden suspension of over USD 1 billion for security assistance from US. Previously in a tweet, US President Donald Trump had accused Islamabad of giving US nothing but lies and deceit, and providing safe haven to terrorists in return for the US aid

 

 

Every year the country receives some fixed amount from the US in Foreign Military financing (FMF), which was USD 255 million for the fiscal year 2016. The department also notified the entire suspension of USD 900 million which was allotted for the fiscal year 2017.

 

 

The U.S. State Department spokesperson, Heather Nauert, notified that it reflects Trump administration's frustration about how Pakistan has failed restrict the terror groups, which have been residing in Pakistan as refugees to launch attacks in the neighboring countries that have caused miseries and causalities of many innocents and other forces.

 

 

The state department also announced the launch of a new and Special Watch List to monitor the activities of the state against which it has been accused. The Watch List is in reference to the new category created by the Frank R Wolf International Religious Freedom Act of 2016 as Pakistan has often been observed violating the religious freedom of the citizens of the country.
