The state government has on Saturday declared the results of its much hyped Gunotsav, which was held across 12,286 schools of 8 districts in the first phase from 4th to 7th April, 2017.

Declaring the results, the education minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “A total of 20 percent students do not attend the schools.”

According to the results, 778 schools secured A+ grade, 2,323 schools secured A grade, 3,107 schools secured B grade, whereas 3,299 and 2,780 schools secured C and D grades respectively.

7,15,930 students from Barpeta, Chirang, Dibrugarh, Hailakandi, Kamrup-Metro, Lakhimpur, Morigaon and Karbi Anglong (West) districts were covered under the programme.

Gunotsav, originally a Gujarat government initiative, was adopted by Sarbananda Sonowal-led Bharatiya Janata Party government of Assam.

Assessment had been done on four core areas, which were academic achievement of children of Class-2 to 8, co-scholastic activities, availability and utilisation of school infrastructure and other facilities and community participation.

Meanwhile, Dibrugarh has topped the chart with most A+ grade schools and Karbi Anglong (West) district has been ranked in the bottom with most D grade schools.

The second phase of Gunotsav will cover 1,929 schools of 12 districts and will be conducted from 19th to 22nd September, 2017.
