Centre to invest RS 1 lakh crore rupees in road sector in Assam
Dedicating the new Brahmaputra bridge at Sariaghat in Guwahati today, Union road transport, highways and shipping Nitin Gadkari announced, the Centre will invest 1 lakh crore rupees in road sector in Assam in coming years to improve communication infrastructure in the state.
Gadkari also requested the state government to submit a proposal for Brahmaputra Express Highway for construction of road along its river bank with state of the art technology.
The new Brahmaputra bridge at Sariaghat constructed at the cost of 475 crore rupees would be beneficial mostly people of Lower Assam. The length of the bridge is nearly 1 and half kilometers.
Union Road Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari also laid stone of the project for development of River Barak as National Waterways.
