With the hearing over triple talaq entering its last day on Thursday, the Supreme Court reserved its order in the case.

Headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Jagdish Singh Khehar, along with four other judges Justices Rohinton Fali Nariman, Kurian Joseph, Uday Umesh Lalit and S. Abdul Nazeer, the five judge bench of the apex court reserved the order after hearing in great detail from all the parties for six consecutive days during the session.

Meanwhile, on fifth day of the hearing on Wednesday, the Supreme Court asked the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), if a woman has an option to reject the triple talaq by saying ‘no’ at the time of execution of nikahnama, to which Kapil Sibal, appearing for the AIMPLB replied that a woman can also negotiate in the nikahnama and include provisions that her husband does not resort to triple talaq. He also informed that the bride has right to pronounce triple talaq in all forms, in order to protect her dignity.

Earlier on third day of hearing, the Centre told the Supreme Court that it may come out with a law to regulate marriage and divorce among Muslims if court holds triple talaq as invalid and unconstitutional.
