The Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) has ruled out any discussion with West Bengal government but said it is comfortable in holding talks with the BJP-led government at the Centre.

GJM leader Binay Tamang alleged in Darjeeling on Saturday that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has insulted them and has called them terrorists.

He said they are fighting for their rights and freedom and will talk only with the central government. His comment comes in the backdrop Banerjee’s claim of deep-rooted conspiracy in Darjeeling Hills supported by insurgent groups of the North East.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday spoke to Mamata Banerjee and they discussed the current situation in Darjeeling.

One person was killed and 35 security personnel were injured as the hilly region witnessed widespread clashes between Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) activists and the police. The GJM, however, claimed that three party supporters were killed in police firing.

Army contingents were deployed to control the situation and they staged flag marches in several areas of the violence-hit district.

Schools, colleges, business establishment and the tourism sector in the hill district have come to complete stand still.
