In yet another incident of ceasefire violation, Pakistan on Monday resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote region of the Poonch district and Manjakote in Rajouri.

Pakistani troop fired indiscriminately at Indian Army posts along the LoC. The Army retaliated strongly to Pakistan’s unprovoked firing. One 7 year old girl and a soldier were killed during the attack along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, the state police said.

The girl, identified as Saida of Balakote in Poonch district, died when she was hit by a Pakistani shell and the soldier, named Naik Mudassir Ahmad, was killed in Rajouri district’s Tarkundi area. After resorting to unprovoked shelling and firing in Bhimber Gali sector of the Line of Control earlier today, the Pakistani troops began with the same in Mendhar and Balakote sectors.

This is the second ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Rajouri sector over the past 24 hours. On Sunday, a soldier was killed in unprovoked firing and mortar shelling by the Pakistani army on Indian troop post, said a defence spokesperson

Defence Ministry spokesman Lt. Col. Manish Mehta said that the firing exchanges are still ongoing. The Indian Army was retaliating strongly and effectively, he added.
