Sarbananda Sonowal keeps poll promise, evicts encroachments from Kaziranga
The eviction drive near the Kaziranga National Park was carried out without any discrimination, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said.
“People of Assam want to clear all encroachments,” Sonowal told media persons.
The eviction drive was carried out as per the Gauhati High Court order, he said. The eviction drive was the result of an order passed by Gauhati High Court on October 9, 2015, to evict people living in and around Kaziranga.
“The BJP had promised to solve the problems of poaching and encroachment in Kaziranga if voted to power in the state. We have kept our poll promise", Chief Minister Sonowal said.
Two persons were killed as unruly protesters clashed with security personnel. At least 15 security personnel sustained injuries when miscreants attacked them.
