The Asam Sahitya Sabha's highest decision-making body, the general house, on Sunday took some controversial decisions.
The general house under pressure from Sabha’s general secretary Paramananda Rajbongshi decided to make a group of presidents from Vice-Chancellors of Gauhati University, Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University and Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University - Mridul Hazarika, Hitesh Deka and Dipak Kumar Sharma. Sharma will preside over the centenary session in Sivasagar while the other two will look after other aspects like publication and finance, they have decided.
Heated arguments were witnesses in the general body meeting. Paramananda Rajbongshi’s followers reportedly did not give change to his opponents to speak in the crucial meeting.
Meanwhile, Asam Sahitya Sabha's general secretary Paramananda Rajbongshi’s resignation was accepted in the general house meeting. Rajbongshi had also staged resignation drama previously.
