The death toll in Guwahati flash flood mounted to five with two more bodies recovered after heavy downpour inundated vast localities of Guwahati city on Tuesday.
Kahilipara, Zoo Road, Lachit Nagar, Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Noonmati, Bamunimaidam, Lakshminath Bezbaruah chowk and several other localities in the city went under water.
 A 13-year-old student, Pushan Kalita and Anowar Hussain were electrocuted by a submerged live wire near state Zoo on Tuesday.
The body of Pintu Das was recovered from the Bahini river at the Jonali of RG Baruah Road by SDRF on Wednesday. Das, who hails from Dibrugarh, had slipped and fell into the Bahini river on Tuesday evening while walking on the footpath of the RG Baruah Road.
In another incident, the body of Deben Nath was recovered by the SDRF from Silsako Beel after he slipped while crossing a bamboo foot bridge. Nath, who hails from Satgaon locality and was an employee of the Assam State Secretariat.
The administration has declared an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the families of each of the deceased persons.
However, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration has not included the name of a lady, who died in Nabin Nagar area of the city as no ambulance could reach her house when she suffered a heart attack on Tuesday night.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal offered his condolences at the loss of life caused by yesterday’s flash floods in Guwahati.
