Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 19 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore to keep alive their chances of qualifying for the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs.
 
Axar Patel's all-round effort helped Kings Eleven Punjab stay in the hunt for a play-off berth.
 
Sent in to bat, Punjab posted 138 for 7, with Patel making an unbeaten 38 off just 17 balls.
 
In reply, Punjab bundled out Bangalore for 119 in 19 overs. Patel and Sandeep Sharma bagged 3 wickets each, while Mohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell took two apiece.
 
Punjab are now fifth in the 8-team table, with 5 wins from 10 games. Bangalore are at the bottom with just 2 victories from 12 matches.
 
Mumbai Indians are at the top, with Kolkata Knight Riders second, Rising Pune Supergiant third and defending champions Sunrisers Hyderbad fourth.
