After suffering defeat at the hands of Malaysia, India beat New Zealand to win bronze medal in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Hockey, 2017 in Ipoh, Malaysia.

India took the lead as Penalty Corner expert Rupinder Pal Singh scored a goal via penalty corners. He scored two goals to put India in command at the end of the First Half.

On the other hand, Somwarpet Vittalacharya Sunil and forwarder Talwinder Singh scored a goal each to make it 4-0 at the end.

India finished as runner-up against Australia, in the 2016 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Hockey tournament.
 
Great Britain will face Australia in the final of the tournament.
