In the second semi final in ICC Champions Trophy, defending champions India have walloped Bangladesh with a crushing win by nine wickets at Edgbaston on Thursday.

Chasing Bangladesh’s 265 run target, India, riding on Rohit Sharma’s 123 and skipper Virat Kohli’s 96 of 78 balls, met the target with 59 balls to spare. Shikhar Dhawan’s 46 off 34 balls set the tone before getting dismissed by Mashrafe Mortaza.

Earlier, sent into bat, Bangladesh put on a fighting total of 264 on board by losing 7 wickets in its first semifinal in the tournament. Tamim Iqbal, 70 and Mushfiqur Rahim 61 put on a magnificent 123-run stand for the third wicket to give Bangladesh a formidable start.

Indian part-time spinner Kedar Jadhav, dismissed both of Bangladesh’s top-scorers Tamim and Mushfiqur in a spell of 2 for 22 in six overs.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kholi’s unbroken partnership of 178 delighted the huge India contingent which is a record for a one-day international at Edgbaston. It would be India’s fourth final appearance in the ICC Championship Trophy.

Rohit Sharma was named the Man of the Match, while Virat Kohli became the quickest player to reach the 8000 run mark in the One Day International.
