Maharashtra government has launched India’s largest public WiFi service called 'MumbaiWifi'. The facility, inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai will initially provide 500 Wifi hotspots across various locations like Vidhan Bhawan, Kalanagar in Bandra, Bombay High Court and Mumbai Police Commissioner’s office.
 
Fadnavis tweeted about the facility saying that the government is committed to resolve all problems regarding connectivity and speed and provide a good internet surfing experience.
 
Describing the decision as an important step for digital empowerment, CM Fadnavis informed that that the during the trial period last week; about 23000 users across the city signed up and downloaded more than 2 TB of data. He reiterated the government’s commitment to provide 1200 WiFi hotspots by 1st May this year.
