1.8 Lakh Voters Chose NOTA in Assam

In the just concluded Lok Sabha elections results, it was revealed that nearly 1.8 lakh voters (178353 voters to be exact) exercised the NOTA (None Of The Above) option in 14 constituencies in Assam.

The NOTA percentage in the state Assam accounted for 0.99 per cent of the total electorate.

On an average, percentage of NOTA voters stood at 1.04 per cent.

It may be mentioned here that in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, NOTA votes exercised per person stood at 0.97 percent. This means that there has been an increase in the percentage of NOTA voters in the state by 0.7 per cent.

NOTA votes casted in the just concluded Lok Sabha results in various constituencies are as follows- Diphu 1.33 per cent (8,194 votes), Silchar 0.9 per cent (8547 votes), Karimganj 0.62 per cent (6555 votes), Dhubri 0.53 per cent (8978), Kokrajhar 1.04 per cent (15988 votes), and Barpeta 0.67 per cent (9734 votes).

In Guwahati 10466 voters (0.59 per cent) exercised the NOTAoption. The other constituencies where exercising of NOTA option were high are-Mangaldoi 18518 votes (1.23 per cent), Tezpur 15626 votes (1.31 per cent),Nagaon 10,757 votes (0.72 per cent) Kaliabor 15,913 votes (1.12 per cent),Jorhat 12,569 votes (1.19 per cent), Dibrugarh 21,288 votes (2.1 per cent), andLakhimpur 15,220 votes (1.19 per cent).

Dibrugarh topped the list of voters exercising the NOTA option;while Diphu came last.
