Eleven students including nine girls died on Thursday when the minibus they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge at Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The vehicle carrying the students of a computer coaching institute from Poonch fell into the gorge near Peer Ki Gali on the Mughal road connecting Bafliaz in Poonch to Shopian.
According to police, 11 students, including nine girls died in the accident while seven others have been severely injured.
However, the injured have been evacuated from the scene of the accident to Shopian hospital.
Expressing grief over the incident, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5lakh each to the bereaved family members.
The Governor also directed the administration to provide the best medical treatment to those injured in the accident and wished a speedy recovery of the students.
