Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma on Saturday flagged off direct flight service from Shillong to Kolkata which he believes will improve the trade and commerce between the two states.
The Meghalaya CM was seen boarding the flight along with colleagues and travelers in a Twitter post. The CM took to Twitter and wrote, “On board the first flight with colleagues and travelers. Happy to inaugurate the indigo flight to Shillong from Kolkata. I am sure the introduction of direct flight to Shillong will boost tourist flow in the state.”
Earlier, Sangma met officials of Coal India Ltd. in Kolkata. After meeting the officials, he said, “We look forward to a progressive relationship to foster economic and systematic exploration of coal mining in the state of Meghalaya.” He also said that the discussion revolved around the Supreme Court ruling that took place adding that the discussions have been very productive.
In a tweet, the CM also announced that the Meghalaya administration will initiate measures as a follow up action plan post lifting the coal ban in Meghalaya which had been initiated by the National Green Tribunal.
