30 Illegal Immigrants Deported To Bangladesh
Around 30 Bangladeshi nationals including three women who were lodged in various detention camps in Assam were deported to Bangladesh on Thursday.
Reports stated that the illegal immigrants were deported through the Kalibari Ghat border check post in southern Assam’s Karimganj district after completing all the formalities. The illegal immigrants who were deported to Bangladesh have been received by Bangladeshi authorities in Sylhet district of the country.
Superintendent of Police (SP) of Karimganj Manabendra Debroy said that the infiltration started since 2015 and that they were arrested for not being able to produce valid documents. The infiltrators were nabbed from 10 districts and lodged in the detention camps of Goalpara, Kokrajhar, Jorhat, Silchar and Tezpur.
The SP further informed that the infiltrators hailed from Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Comilla, Pabna, Sylhet and other districts of Bangladesh.
He said that a group of Bangladeshi diplomats in India had visited the camps last year and collected data on the immigrants for repatriation as per protocol.
