Bengaluru Police on Monday showed a different side of the force when five terminally ill children were given the uniform of the police commissioner and made to play the role for an entire day.

The five children were handed over the charges of Bengaluru City Police by the Commissioner on Monday in a bid to motivate them to overcome their critical medical conditions. Make A Wish foundation had approached the city police for the initiative and Bangalore commissioner Bhaskar Rao immediately agreed.

The five children, one girl, and four boys reached the commissioner’s office in police uniform and took guard of honor as well. They were then taken around the office and made to sit on the commissioner’s chair and were made to sign a few mock documents.

To take it to the next level the children were introduced to the dog squad and the children were overjoyed to be able to pet dogs. A mock weapon and handcuffs were also handed to them for a photo session.

Commissioner Bhaskar Rao said, “Make A Wish foundation wanted it to be a small event but we made it big. This will also empathize our force. We took them around the office and both the children and officers were happy. We gave them a guard of honor as is received by every police commissioner.”
