526 teeth removed from Chennai boy’s mouth!

In a bizarre incident, the doctors have removed 526 teeth from the mouth of a seven-year-old boy at a Chennai hospital on Wednesday. The rare surgery was performed at Chennai’s Saveetha Dental College and Hospital.

According to reports, the boy was brought to the hospital with a swelling right jaw. He was reportedly suffering from a rare case of compound composite ondontome.

The X-ray and CT-scan report of the boy’s swelling jaw revealed a lot of rudimental teeth, following which doctors decided to extract those teeth.

“We opened up the jaw after administering general anaesthesia and saw a bag/sack inside it. The sack, weighing about 200 grams, was carefully removed and was later found to contain 526 teeth — small, medium and big sized,” a doctor of the hospital was quoted as saying by IANS.

This could be the first case in the world in which an individual has been found to have so many teeth.
