The Guwahati unit of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Sunday recovered around 6 kg ivory at Guwahati Railway Station. Market value of the seized ivory is approximately Rs 35 lakh.
Officials informed that two persons were arrested in relation to the recovered ivory, who have been identified as Badrul Hussain and Suraj Kumar.
Interrogation has revealed that the ivory was being smuggled to Nepal.
It may be mentioned here that the DRI had seized 12.410 kg of ivory from a bus at Siliguri on February 15 earlier.
