73% voter turnout in Mizoram, 65.5% in MP

71 per cent voter turnout has been in Mizoram assembly polls on Wednesday, while voting for the 230 seats of Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections has seen as  65.5 per cent voter turnout.

Chief Electoral Officer Ashish Kundra said, that the maximum turnout of 81 per cent in Mizoram has been recorded in Serchhip district, while the lowest 62 per cent in Aizawl district till 3 pm.

Polling for the 40-member state Assembly began amid tight security, where Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla is seeking a third consecutive term and the BJP is looking to replace Congress in its last bastion in the Northeast.

More than 65 thousand polling stations have been set up in Madhya Pradesh and as many as two thousand eight hundred and 99 candidates, including two hundred and fifty women, are in the fray.
