AASU lambasts AGP

The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) criticized Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) over its alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the coming Lok Sabha elections. AASU chief adviser Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya and General Secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi on Wednesday severely criticized the leaders of the regional party for creating a drama by opposing the much debated Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

"AGP should let the people of the State know as to why the party has come to an alliance with BJP, despite the fact that the latter had clearly voiced for another Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, if voted to power," said Samujjal Bhattacharya. "The leaders of AGP are answerable to the people of the State as they have betrayed the people of Assam," said AASU leader Lurin Jyoti Gogoi.

The AASU leaders also said that under the leadership of NESO, the fight against any Bill that can hamper the people of northeast will continue.
