After the publication of National Register of Citizens (NRC), the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Saturday expressed dissatisfaction over the NRC. AGP president Atul Bora addressing a press conference in Guwahati said that they are dissatisfied with the final NRC, adding that all the indigenous people of Assam are disappointed with the list.
“We were expecting an error-free NRC. It was clear that there was a huge influx of illegal foreigners in Assam and the Assam Movement was initiated following that. But the final NRC is not satisfactory,” said Bora.
The AGP president also added that there is a scope of review of the NRC final list in the Supreme Court.
According to NRC authorities, 3,11,21,004 people were found eligible for inclusion in the Final NRC leaving out 19,06,657 people. The left out people also included the names of those, who did not submit claims.
