The ruling party of Tamil Nadu, AIADMK which has 11 members in the Rajya Sabha, will support the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in the Upper House of the Parliament.
The support of AIADMK will mean that the controversial bill will easily sail through in the Rajya Sabha too. The party, which has a lone member in the Lok Sabha, will support the bill in the lower house too.
According to a senior leader of the party, they will in all probability support the CAB in the Parliament.
It may be mentioned that the bill which is to be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday (December 9), according to reports. AIADMK, which is an ally of BJP, has either been supporting all bills or abstaining while voting in the Rajya Sabha.
However, CAB is being opposed by most of the opposition parties, including Congress and DMK.
Protests have also been erupted in Assam and Northeast opposing the bill and many students’ organization has also called for Assam Bandh on December 9 and 10.
