2016-17 I-League champions Aizawl FC are struggling at the moment in the ongoing season of the country’s premier football league. With numerous alterations in personnel since their title winning season, the club has failed to repeat their glory run and two seasons hence, have taken a deep slumber, currently lying at 10th position in the 11-team tournament.
With the new year in sight, the People’s Club welcome visitors Gokulam Kerala from the south coast to their own backyard in the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Aizawl in the early afternoon kickoff (2 P.M.). Coach Gift Raikhan is wary of the threat that Gokulam possesses and must have sorted out his options ahead of the match on Saturday to make a positive impact in the remainder of the season.
The Aizawl FC defense has been bolstered by the arrival of Ugandan International Juuko Richard Kassaga just recently.
