National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Monday briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi over the current security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. This was for the first time that Doval met Shah after his return from the Kashmir valley two days back.
Ajit Doval was in Jammu and Kashmir for about ten days and personally monitored the situation after the Centre anniunced its move to nullify Article 370 and bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir. Restrictions were imposed on movement of people and communication links snapped in Jammu and Kashmir following the move on August 5.
Doval apprised Shah about the overall situation in the state. Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and other top officials also attended the meeting that reveiwed the steps aken to maintain the law and order situation in the state.
According to an official quoted by PTI, the issue related to restrictions in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir also figured in the meeting.
All communication lines were snapped across Kashmir, including landlines on August 4 ahead of the Centre’s announcement of the abrogation of Article 370.
