AJYCP Continues Protest Against Big Dam
The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chattra Parishad (AJYCP) has continued its protest in Lakhimpur against the construction of Lower Subansiri Hydro-electric power project.
The AJYCP followed a 100-hour blockade to prevent the construction material from being taken to the site since August 10 in Lakhimpur and Dhemaji which comes to an end on Wednesday at 11 am.
The organization has also burnt the effigies of Assam Chief Minister, Prime Minister of India and union Power Minister in Lakhimpur demanding to stop the construction of the big dam.
The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) which is constructing the dam said on Tuesday that it is all set to resume the project soon. It also said that the project will be commissioned within four years after its work resumes.
