Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi on Monday attacked BJP-led NDA government for its aggressive attitude towards media houses. He also condemned the Centre’s alleged attempt at trying to gag the media by stopping government advertisements to media houses.
“The NDA government has shown its true colour by stopping advertisements to those media houses, which were critical on their policies,” Gogoi said, while addressing the media in Guwahati.
It may be mentioned here that the Central Government’s Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) has stopped issuing advertisement to The Assam Tribune since February for supporting the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), the newspaper reported in their lead news on June 29.
The KMSS leader also alleged that the government has shown no respect to the demands of the protesting TET qualified teachers of Assam. “The government should regularise the jobs of TET qualified teachers. He further asked the government to hold TET examinations to appoint teachers at vacant posts.
