KrishakMukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi on Monday attacked BJP-led NDAgovernment for its aggressive attitude towards media houses. He also condemnedthe Centre's alleged attempt at trying to gag the media by stopping governmentadvertisements to media houses.
"TheNDA government has shown its true colour by stopping advertisements to those mediahouses, which were critical on their policies," Gogoi said, while addressingthe media in Guwahati.
It may be mentioned here that the Central Government's Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) has stopped issuing advertisement to The Assam Tribune since February for supporting the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), the newspaper reported in their lead news on June 29.
TheKMSS leader also alleged that the government has shown no respect to thedemands of the protesting TET qualified teachers of Assam. "The governmentshould regularise the jobs of TET qualified teachers. He further asked thegovernment to hold TET examinations to appoint teachers at vacant posts.
