Amit Shah pays tribute at National Police Memorial

The newly appointed Home Minister under Narendra Modi’s Cabinet for the second term Amit Shah paid tribute at the National Police Memorial in Delhi today after he took oath on May 30 for the first time as a cabinet minister.

Amit Shah takes over the Home Ministry from Rajnath Singh who has been given charge of Defence Ministry. Shah, who has been known for his ability to take tough decisions is expected to give new shape not only to many aspects of internal security but also dynamics as far as relations with neighbouring countries especially Pakistan are concerned. He will also play a crucial role as the home minister in defining the centre’s relationship with states.

The union home minister’s biggest challenge is Jammu and Kashmir as he had promised voters during the election that the PM-Modi-led BJP would annul Article 35A of the Constitution because it discriminates against ‘non-permanent residents and women of Jammu and Kashmir.’ Shah also called for the abolition of Article 370 which allows the state a separate flag and constitution.

The newly appointed home minister will also linger on illegal immigration saying that illegal immigrants are like termites. He said that they are eating the grain that should go to the poor and taking our jobs.
