Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Ripun Bora chaired a very important meeting in the All India Congress Committee (AICC) office today with all the who's who of the State Congress being present in the meeting.
Present in the meeting were General Secretary of AICC Dr. C P Joshi, ACLP Leader Debabrat Saikia, President All India Mahila Congress Sushmita Dev, M.P Gaurav Gogoi, MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, Former minister Siddique Ahmed among other Congress leaders.
Following the meet, the party leaders agreed on the following points:
(i) That there is no division between Brahmaputra and Barak Valley Congress on the issue of Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.
(ii) All are united on the stand of APCC that Congress Party is committed to fight for the protection of All Community irrespective of Caste, Creed and religion, on the basis of Historic Assam Accord.
(iii) The Bill is opposed tooth and nail as it is unconstitutional.
(iv) Congress Party will take all steps so that no names of any Indian Citizens are left out from the NRC.
