The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) called on the Congress MLAs in Guwahati’s Gateway Grandeur to discuss on important matters concerning the party.
According to reports, plans were chalked out, to take over in the 2021 Assembly elections, in the meeting.
Now, Congress’ aim is Mission 80, said APCC president Ripun Bora after the meeting.
There is another meeting of the party’s extended executive members which has been scheduled in the Rajiv Bhawan.
It may be noted that the party is likely to take strong action against former Congress minister Gautam Roy and few other senior leaders.
Reportedly, former minister Gautam Roy had celebrated the victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recently declared Lok Sabha elections. As per sources, the APCC may take the decision of suspending Roy from the party during its meeting.
Besides Roy, action may also be taken against former MP Dwijen Sharma, Romen Borthakur and youth leader of the party Partha Pratim Bora for allegedly sabotaging party’s prospects in the recently held Lok Sabha elections.
