APCC To constitute Expert committee to revive Assam’s economy

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has decided to constitute an Expert Committee with four eminent economists, industrialists to revive the economy of Assam.

The unplanned lockdown in the entire country has also added fuel to fire to the already devastated economy of Assam. Meanwhile, some experts has forecasted that 50% population of Assam will be under poverty in the coming days if immediate effective steps are not taken to revive the devastated economy of Assam, APCC said in a statement.

The Committee will study in details the present serious economic situation of Assam and submit the report with suggestions, action plans and roadmap etc. to revive the economy of Assam in particular reference to the following points to be implemented if Congress Party forms government in Assam in 2021 in order to make the state's economy competitive, sustainable, inclusive and equitable.

1. Infrastructure development
2. Rapid Industrialisation.
3. Revival and strengthening the MSMEs
4. To create adequate employment opportunities including
   absorptions of the returned migrant workers.
5. Development of Agricultural economy.
6. Creation of Local market for different products of Assam.
7. Bridging digital divide, expansion of communication and ecotourism.
8. Measures of increasing per capita income and purchasing
   power of the people of Assam.
9. Mobilisation of resource and revenue.
10. 10.Any other matter which the committee deems fit and proper

The committee will submit the report within two months along with an action plan for five years.
